Taking The Plunge
The sixth week of school commences. Pretty soon it’ll be summer time. Normally I don’t like summer that much. It usually means I can do nothing but work and when I do have free time I’m forced to spend it alone. I was always ready and willing to go back to school in the fall. This summer break could prove to be different though. I’ll be moving into a house with some good friends and finding a job in the area. I’m really excited to see how sharing a house will work out. I’ve heard housing horror stories from numerous people about unreliable housemates who duck out on cleaning responsibilities and who get so wrapped up in their boyfriend/girlfriend that you never see them again. Kitchen nightmares, house drama, petty squabbles, I’ve heard it all. All stuff guaranteed to make you think twice about running out and getting an apartment of your own, or even (oh my God!) think of moving back in with your folks. *shivers* I’ve been given plenty of reasons why taking the plunge and shacking up with five-or-so buddies is a bad idea. One of the most common ones people have told me is that you begin to see a side of your friends that you wish you hadn’t, and soon you get sick of them. I’ve heard the warnings. I’ve seen it happen. And yet for some reason I’m not concerned. This is a pretty interesting group of individuals who, for the most part, always seem to get along great. I’d even go so far as to say we go well together. Maybe it’s just the old “We’ll be better.” mentality that everyone has going in, but I honestly think this will work out much better than everyone seems to think it will. Maybe even more than I think it will. I can’t wait to find out!
